Why do Americans circumcise their boys?

Because they don't know better. They've been circumcising their boys for so long, they don't even know what a foreskin looks like.

As a population, they've forgotten all about foreskin, its role in the sex act, its role keeping a newborn baby healthy, its role supporting the structure of the penis during erection. They don't know about the pleasure it provides.

Parents are swayed by fear mongering, folklore, outdated medical practices, trapped physicians, out-of-date baby books, social custom, and a shroud of secrecy that makes open discussion difficult.

Some facts:

  • Circumcision does not protect against HIV. Condoms do.

  • America has one of the highest circumcision rates in the world, and one of the highest rates of HIV. Clearly circumcision is not protecting Americans from HIV.

  • Intact boys don't get phimosis. Some boys retract late, some never at all. Those are both normal anatomical variations, if you must know.

  • Breast feeding is a baby's best protection from urinary tract infection. Circumcision is the leading cause of breast feeding failure.

  • Circumcision removes 20,000 nerve endings, the most sensitive ones on a man's penis... Gone... Forever... At two or eight day's old.

  • The reason "Uncle Bob" had to be painfully circumcised was that his penis was ruined by premature retraction and over zealous cleaning. A baby's penis should not be retracted and cleaned as out-dated baby books and health care providers say. That is like peeling back a fingernail to clean underneath, sure to injure.

  • Most of the world's men are intact. They are not dying off from cancer of the penis. They also are not lining up to get circumcised so they "look right" when they come of age. They actually like their foreskin. Their women like it too.

  • The word is getting out among the young boys of America that they were robbed of something precious, and irreplaceable. Some of them are mad. Some want to sue. Times are changing.
